Kiwi Soldier Web George Watson's War.

This site is the story of George Watson.
George served in the Second World War as a member of the British Armies East Surrey Regiment.
He saw active duty in Italy as a member of the London Irish Rifles.
If you didn't notice, George is not a "Kiwi" Soldier, but on my site I can do whatever I want!
George is a real soldier and his story is as valid to tell as anyone else's. George's path crossed
that of the NZ Div in Italy with a train derailment that he would like to find out more about.
The train question is what caused George to be introduced to me through my Guest Book,
so I am extremely grateful for this chance meeting, and replied by putting George's story here.

George's story
George was called up in Feb 1940.
He joined the East Surrey Regiment, and trained the new intakes for nearly four years
until he was posted to Italy as a Corporal. Here he was transferred to the London Irish Rifles.
He served with the London Irish Rifles driving Bren Gun carriers, until wounded by the blast and
shock of a close shell explosion, 25 June 1945.
